Information security is an important part of any business continuity plan. Business operations rely heavily on data and information being secure, available. and uncorrupted. One way to see if a business’s information is adequately secure is through a security survey.
A survey on the security of information systems takes into account all possible security breaches and what an organization is doing or can do to combat these breaches. Questions must be asked such as whether or not a company has adequate firewall protection to secure them from outside intrusion. A company must evaluate whether or not they have online backup procedures to protect them from the information losses incurred in physical disasters. A company must also survey employees and decide if they are properly trained on how to secure their laptops against theft or intrusion into the information they contain.
Once a company completes a survey of their security level they can begin to compile the information to develop a security plan. This plan will help ensure that a company’s information and systems are properly protected against the risks and threats they face, and also help make sure a company can recover quickly in the face of security breaches or information corruption and loss.
